Influences of Monetary Incentives on Implicit Relational Assessment Procedure (IRAP) Performance

Performance-based incentives may improve the validity of results from implicit attitude assessment tasks and attrition rates. Participants working to obtain incentive be less likely edit their responses conform social expectations more meet experimental inclusion criteria. We examined influences a monetary ($20 voucher) for fast accurate performance on an Implicit Relational Assessment Procedure (IRAP) task evaluating attitudes about bodyweight. randomly assigned 82 university students control (non-incentive) groups. Although there was no significant effect accuracy or latency measures, participants in group displayed significantly stronger bias against overweight individuals than did group. There were differences between groups with respect toward slim individuals. More (97.5%) met criteria (87.8%). These suggest that meeting reduce rate increase IRAP other but additional research is required determine predictive assessments without performance-based incentives.
